As I write this in the early hours of the morning after the legislative elections, several feelings overwhelm me. Trepidation, about the giddy news trickling through from my usual sources of Nigerian news: Sahara Reporters, NEXT and the NATION; fear, about what reactionary forces may have as answers to fight back at what should, in the coming weekends, become a routing of the rigging machinery set in motion by the regime of retired General Obasanjo, but the feeling that keep pushing above the doubts is that of joy, that our liberation is almost here. Even Aso Rock is under siege, reports say: the polling station there reflects a vote of no confidence in the chief occupier- a PDP loss!
Policing of votes by voters using modern media to fight ancient evil forces. But we cannot and must not sit back. Next weekend is another battle, THE Battle for the Liberation of Nigeria continues.
It’s an incredible feeling!
