As millions of Moslems celebrate Id Il Fitri tomorrow, here’s wishing all, especially Moslem readers of this Blog everywhere, very happy celebrations.
We live in very difficult times but Nigerians must not continue to allow religious differences to divide as it has been doing, especially since the return to civil rule. Politicians the world over are an opportunistic lot and the Nigerian variety are particularly hideous in fanning the embers of religious disunity.
Millions in the Southwest have families in both great religion of Christianity and Islam and they’ve often and always celebrated the great festivities together: the Eids, Xmas, Easter. We must say ‘no’ to political prostitutes who are willing to walk on their own family members to reach their political goals.
Barka de Sallah.

I have happy memories of joining neighbours and friends in celebrating Sallah just as they joined us especially at Easter picnics in Ikere. Eating, Dancing and loads of fun across religions!!!!!! Now, my teenage Christian relations have no friends in the Muslim community.
Yes. We must say ‘NO’ to divisive politics.

Thanks, Jumoke. How very true and how how v-e-r-y sad!
We must denounce imported fanaticism. It’s un-African. Osun/Ogun and other festivities of our ancestors in the Southwest were celebrated by all within each community; why not Christianity and Islam? We must reject the misleading idea of fighting those who “insult” our religions because the all-powerful God knows those who truly worship him.
Regards, TOLA.
