#BringBackOurGirls: A prayer of Deliverance by a woman of the Ministry – Honorary Canon Adebisi Sowunmi

We must keep trying everything, and to us Christians, prayer is the first thing that comes to mind.  May the Nigerian government stop dithering and do all that is possible to #BringBackOurGirls and stop dithering.

And from one of the most ardent followers of this blog comes the prayers below: TOLA.

CORRECTION:  Professor Sowunmi’s correct title is Lay Canon Adebisi Sowunmi.  I should know because I’m Anglican.  Error regretted.  TOLA, May 20, 2014.

From my devotional this morning comes this prayer which I urge us to pray for the Chibok girls:

O God, the eternal King Who made heaven and earth, You Who execute justice for the oppressed,

We pray that as You did in the past, You will set these imprisoned girls free,

You will watch over them and uphold them; may the evil and wicked plans of their sadistic abductors be brought to ruin.(Psalm 146: 7, 8, 9).

Let them know that You are with them and You are mightier than the armed Boko Haram; open their eyes to see the way of deliverance which You have made for them even as You opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant (2 Kings 6: 16-17).

Let them continue to believe that their help will come from You Who neither slumber nor sleep.(psalm 121:2, 4).

In the mighty name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Honorary Canon Adebisi Sowunmi is a retired Professor of Archeology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

This prayer is welcome, especially coming from a noble woman, who in addition, was a don and a juggernaut in her academic field.
Nevertheless, I was moved by the recent ”Takeaways” given to us by the action governor Fashola : Heavens help those, who help themselves.
Considered from the spiritual perspective: Is it not a woman that allowed Abubakar Shekau, the devil incarnate, to incarnate on earth? My clarion call to all women is that : THEY MUST REALISE THAT THEY HOLD THE ACES TO EVERYTHING CONCERNING THE ACTIVITIES AND SURVIVAL OF HUMANITY. Destroy womanhood, and you’ve destroyed not only a nation, but the whole human race!

      Dear Prof.,

      Thanks, as always for this.

I wonder, though, what Nigerian women can do beyond the protests that thousands are joining. Our hands, like those of that judge who’s forever remembered because of his role in the Awo travesty of a trial, are tied. It is Nigerian men – I’m not joking – who holds beyond the aces in everything, every ill of the country.

Of course I agree that if you destroy the women of a country as is being done in Nigeria, you have – and are – destroyed/destroying a nation which, pardon Dear Prof., Nigeria still ain’t.

      My regards,
      TOLA.
