2014 Wimbledon: Against Kerber her first real test, Maria came unprepared but fought hard – Tola Adenle

July 1, 2014

Serena had no excuse for losing in the third round but one would expect some respect for the Number One but her path, with the exception of her first round match, seemed lain with thorns of the hard-hitting young ladies variety.  Maria, on the other hand, went through her first three matches almost like walks in parks:  short and  none really made her sweat.

That was until Angelique Kerber, World’s Number 9 and Maria gifted tennis fans around the world with a scintillating match.  Both of them played at their very best level.

Next time, Wimbledon and tennis authorities everywhere, it may be better to let everyone and everything take their normal turns.

Now, we all await the no-airs exciting Bouchard who should go at least to the finals; she has the heart to push her tremendous ability all the way.  This year, Wimbledon will have somebody who has never won the trophy on the Ladies’ side.
