Nigeria’s economy: “President Buhari seeking emergency powers” is not called for

August 24, 2016

While a presidential aide has reportedly dismissed news reports as being false, this is a matter that should not be left to germinate.

According to, “the proposal had already found acceptance among industrialists and experts as well as some legislators who spoke to Daily Trust.
Many industrialists and experts said such proposal was long overdue …”

There is no need to grant the president emergency powers on the economy or any other matter because it can lead to nothing but a gradual descent to dictatorship, and the President should be careful NOT to allow those who predicted that he could never become a democrat to say we-told-you-so!

As for the “industrialists and experts as well as some legislators”, they understand NOT the implications of what they are proposing, OR, they do, but personal interests are beclouding their judgement.

A stitch in time saves nine!
