May the New Year bring new beginnings to us all – Tola Adenle

January 1, 2018

Society/Living, World

Here’s to a New Year that brings your choicest resolutions, your choicest wishes for you and loved ones, and my own wishefor this New Year?

  •  A world that would not be turned into a wasteland by the power-drunken-ness of two maniacs on two far-apart continents. And to Nigeria, the land of my birth?
  •  A wish that Nigerians will not have to spend another Christmas ruined by the corruption that has rendered the country so desolate that most Christians spent the last Xmas Day on gasoline queues like millions of their non-Christian compatriots while those in power give excuses and platitudes on how “… Christians should emulate Christ”!
  • Is it Christ-like to claim  an overage spending of N3 trillion above a budgeted N245 billion in whatever currency? That’s exactly what happened in a scam known as “oil subsidy” in Nigeria. Briefly, successive Nigerian govts since President Obasanjo always claim they’ve paid out “oil subsidies” to certain marketers to quicken the pace of local refineries. It’s too long for here but references below will show it’s a scam and racket perpetrated on Nigerians.
  • May 2018 be the year that Nigerians will finally realize that no God can answer the  prayers they offer as regards the change of heart … of successive inept and mostly thieving rulers the country has been saddled with prayers without accompanying effort is useless; that it will be the year when they realize that no union is needed to get a government to listen to their cries; that teachers, market women, housewives, bankers, EVERYBODY, must all rise to say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
  • Without that, Nigeria’s politicians at all levels would continue to acquire expensive homes not only for themselves but for their children in Nigeria and major cities of the world without doing anything about what lies at the root of the impoverishment of the people.
  • Above conclusion can be seen from the dates in the references below when this blog has been writing on the subsidy scam.
  • Nobody will give you your freedom; you have to – as I’ve written here many times before I got tired and completely stopped writing on Nigeria – demand and TAKE it.

Happy 2018 to all my readers who have kept this journey going for almost seven years, and here’s a list of countries from among over a hundred from where they stopped by during just the last week of 2017:

Click below for celebrations in some places as I usher the New Year in around the Greenwich Meridian; I was 5 hours West of GM7T the last dozen or so years’ New Year celebrations but it’s always been the same very enjoyable time.

The best of 2018 to you all, TOLA.
